A briefing on the status of CA climate and agriculture policy during Covid19

May 22, 2020 @ 10:00 am-11:00 am

Free

We invite you to join farmers, advocates and organizations from around the state to a briefing on the status of climate and agriculture policy. Please join us for a video call on May 22nd from 10:00 – 11:00am to hear an update from CalCAN and a discussion about engaging. We will record the session if you are not available at that time.

As you can imagine, the impact of COVID-19 has curtailed legislative business and the state faces a significant budget deficit. Now more than ever, we need you to tell our state elected officials that we cannot afford to delay investments in agriculture’s powerful climate solutions. Healthy soils, farmland conservation and adaptation tools for farmers and ranchers not only curb climate change but they are key elements of an economic recovery that supports human and ecological health and resilience.
Draft agenda :

Funding for Climate Smart Agriculture: Impacts of Covid-19 crisis
Legislation update: What bills are still in play?
Program updates: Healthy Soils, Alternative Manure Management, SWEEP (on-farm water conservation) SALCP (farmland conservation)
How you can get involved with virtual budget advocacy
